The places and people in the following stories have been represented accurately to the best of my ability; yet my writing is supposed to be a tale, and as in any historical novel, my own imagination has blended with fact to create poetical reality.

About This Quote

If you are reading a book and at times you feel that the writer has taken liberties with the story, it is because they have. The author has altered the facts for the better to create a better tale. For instance, “The Secret Garden” by Frances Hodgson Burnett was adapted into a movie in 1993. In that film, Mary Lennox married an older man only to run away with him six months later. That part of the book was left out for the sake of the story being told on screen.
